What is STEAM?

STEAM Education (including the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) is a technology-based learning approach that aims to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills through an interdisciplinary perspective and continues during the entire education and training process.

STEAM Education has become crucial for all countries in the world. The developed countries have given up their education system that emerged with the industrial revolution, and now they aim to base their new education systems on STEAM education. The reason is that in recent years, increasing mental processes and production skills, rather than muscle and labor force, has been regarded as a necessity in the information society.

The role of teachers within the framework of STEAM Education is to develop students’ higher order thinking, production, discovery and innovation skills rather than transmitting theoretical knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics courses.
